Pre-Assessments The what

Pre-Assessments are the go-to, ninja-kicking comprehensive reports that provide the NDIS with written justification for the support you need. We won’t sugar coat it for you; this is one of the most negative reports you’ll ever read. As a parent, it makes you question your role as caregiver, and as a team it makes you wonder if you ever knew the person you cared for. However, this brutal report holds merit, and with merit comes power!

And you don’t need PBS funding to have it completed!

The How

  • Communication – we assess how you talk, communicate with others, express emotions, and how adaptive you are across environments.
  • Self-care – we discuss if there are any challenges with showering, brushing teeth, eating, dressing, grooming, and looking after yourself generally.
  • Mobility – we explore how difficult it is to transition between tasks, how much time you spend inside, if there are any challenges when navigating stairs and if this limits your community access.
  • Social relationships – we delve into your ability to make and sustain relationships, your comprehension of reciprocity, and if your diagnosis affects your social expansion.
  • Self-management – we might question how you are with decision making, managing your own bills, and if there are skillsets that may need developing.
  • Learning – we love to know how you tick.

Based on 1:1 observations, collateral reports, and formal assessments, we educate with diagnosis exploration, we highlight the deficits across your functional domains, and by gum, we fight through our advocacy of what is needed to improve your quality of life!

The Why

The NDIS are an insurance scheme provider; they want to know exactly why they should provide a payout – at times, a large payout at that – but they also need to see the evidence to justify the need. We know, we understand, which is why every ounce of passion goes into these reports. We observe, we write, we fight, we submit (to you/Support Coordinators) and then we wait.

If you, your loved one or that one person you feel is being shut down, get in touch as we will do everything we can to fight on your behalf. It doesn’t matter who you are, or what diagnosis you have, your voice always matters.
